মন্ত্রিপরিষদ বিভাগের এসআরও নং-১৪/আইন/২০১৭, তারিখ ১৯/০১/২০১৭ খ্রিঃ মূলে সুরক্ষা সেবা বিভাগ গঠিত হয়। নবগঠিত এ বিভাগের আওতায় বহিরাগমন ও পাসপোর্ট অধিদপ্তর, ফায়ার সার্ভিস ও সিভিল ডিফেন্স অধিদপ্তর, মাদকদ্রব্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ অধিদপ্তর এবং কারা অধিদপ্তর এ কার্যক্রম পরিচালিত হচ্ছে।

মন্ত্রিপরিষদ বিভাগের এসআরও নং-১৫/আইন/২০১৭, তারিখ ১৯/০১/২০১৭ খ্রিঃ দ্বারা Allocation of Business সংশোধনক্রমে সুরক্ষা সেবা বিভাগের কার্যাবলী নিম্নরূপ নির্ধারণ করা হয়েছে।

Security Services Division:

1. Domicile, citizenship and naturalisation of foreigners and aliens.

2. Admission of persons to and departure of persons from Bangladesh including policies regarding (a) Immigration, (b) Passports, visa, permits, etc.

3. Fire Service and Civil Defence.

4. Externment, extradition and repatriation.

5. Prisons and reformatories.

6. Pardons and reprieves excluding personnel belonging to Armed Forces.

7. Offences against laws with respect to any of the matters dealt with in this Division.

8. The Foreigners Act.

9. Bangladesh (Control of Entry) Act.

10. Administration and control of subordinate offices and organisations under this Division.

11. Field Firing and Artillery Practices Act.

12. Prevention of entry and transit of Narcotics and Drugs.

13. Department of Narcotics Control.

14. Liaison with International Organisations and matters relating to treaties and agreements with other countries and world bodies relating to subjects allotted to this Division.

15. All laws on subjects allotted to this Division.

16. Inquiries and statistics on any of the subjects allotted to this Division.

17. Fees in respect of any of the subjects allotted to this Division except fees taken in Courts.

18. Transfer and posting of Doctors, Paramedics, Nurses, Technicians and other medical personnel placed under this Division.
